Wang Fanzhi Poems
王梵志诗

A selection of twenty poems by Tang dynasty poet Wang Fanzhi, a cynical and nihilistic Chan buddhist that was famous at his time for his vernacular, vulgar, straightforward and humorous rants, loosely bonded by a simplistic buddist non-differentiation / moral retribution world view.
In his most famous poem Fanzhi reversing the socks (梵志翻着袜), he wrote about his preference of wearing his socks inside out, disregarding of people's judgements and opinions of his bad manner, for that the sewing threads from inside the socks would compromise the comfort of his feet.
As a final touch, the brochures were washed and dried, to wash away the sin of translating the untranslatable, and to wash the dirty socks a bit cleaner (for the untainted future readers).
